“ | Environment AND temperament make us who we are. Some people… some people can just take more.
— Jenna, while reminiscing with Chase
|
” |
Jenna Begay (born Jasmynn Begay) is one of the main characters in the visual novel Echo. She is a close childhood friend of Chase Hunter and a studious psychology major bent on overcoming her past.
Appearance[]
Jenna is the shortest main character, which is typical for her species. She wears a black tank top that exposes her navel and beige shorts. She accessorizes with a bracelet on her right wrist and a choker around her neck that sports a turquoise gem the same color as her eyes. Her fur is a sand color with lighter shades on her ears, muzzle, head, and torso.
Personality[]
Jenna is pragmatic and resourceful and is likely the most well-educated member of the group. She may also be somewhat cold and detached sometimes while warm and reassuring at other times. Flynn is typically on the receiving end of the former, as the two butt heads consistently. She acted as the big-sister figure to much of the group as they grew up, especially in the case of TJ. Jenna tends to be good-natured and sensible, though she enjoys practical jokes and poking fun at her friends.
Despite her generally compassionate and supportive disposition, Jenna carries a vindictive streak that primarily manifests in her relationship with Leo and her thoughts toward Echo. Due to her upbringing, Jenna tends to be self-sufficient. She prefers to have some degree of control in most situations. Jenna is proud of her Meseta heritage and willing to confront those disrespecting her culture. However, she does not believe in most Meseta customs.

Early Life[]
Jenna was born in Echo alongside her brothers, Adam and Jeremy. She was born Jasmynn Begay, and her parents named her after the street they lived on. Her family struggled with money and was known to be physically and verbally abusive. However, Jenna herself rarely elaborates on the details.
Jenna's family had a habit of selling her belongings for drug or alcohol money, which led to her learning to hide her things from others. When Jenna's family was exceedingly awful or she was furious, she occasionally encountered a mysterious burned figure that would watch over her from a short distance. She considered this creature a "guardian angel" and refrained from discussing it with others.
Growing up, Jenna found a support system in the friends she made at school. She became best friends with Chase at a young age, and the two decided to befriend Leo after his family first moved to town. The group expanded to include Carl, TJ, Flynn, and Sydney. When her home life became too stressful, she would spend the night at one of her friend's houses (Leo's in particular). She also frequently visited her grandmother on the nearby Meseta reservation.
When she was eleven, Jenna and the rest of her friends went to play at Lake Emma, only for tragedy to strike when Sydney drowned in the lake. TJ was the only witness to the incident, and Jenna provided comfort and stood up for him when others, such as Flynn, tried to force him to talk about it. To cope with Syd's death, Jenna convinced herself that he was nothing more than a bully and that they were better off without him, though she was deeply shaken as well.
Later on, Jenna would face a series of family tragedies, including the death of her grandmother and Adam committing suicide. As a teenager, Jenna became interested in manga and anime, including yaoi. She became a confidant for many of her friends due to her rational thinking and acceptance toward others, leading to both Flynn and Leo eventually coming out as gay to her. She also briefly became friends with Heather and tried to help her with her complex home life. However, upon telling her that covering for her was becoming too much, Heather responded by sending a group of boys to her house under the pretense of Jenna having sex with them. This led to her becoming the target of heavy bullying and receiving further abuse from her father.
Route 65 and Later Life[]
On November 1, 2008, Jenna was punished by her father for unknown reasons and kept home from school. He also removed her bedroom door from its hinges, presumably to remove her privacy. Depending on who Chase chooses to come out to at the beginning of Route 65, Chase may stop to visit Jenna on the way to the Day of the Dead party and allow her to borrow his phone to send an unknown text. He may also come out to her, to which she responds supportively.
After Chase and Leo became a couple, they tended to keep to themselves more often and, as a result, ignored Jenna and the rest of their friends. At one point, the pair even skipped her birthday party. Though outwardly supportive of their relationship, Jenna internalized somewhat of a grudge toward the pair for their behavior, especially Leo (knowing he kept Chase away from her and everyone else). During this time, Flynn became the primary person who checked in on her and helped her with her family. Meanwhile, Jenna planned to leave Echo and stay with a friend in Payton.
In May 2010, Jenna informed Chase of her plan to run away. Shortly after, he drove Jenna to Payton to permanently emancipate her from her abusive family. During this trip, Jenna encouraged Chase to apply to Pueblo University. She told him of her plan to change her name from Jasmynn to Jenna to gain a fresh start and impede her family's possible search efforts.
Inspired by her traumatizing childhood (particularly the sightings of her "guardian angel"), Jenna studied psychology at Pueblo University on a tribal-association scholarship to learn more about how the brain works and processes these sightings. During this time, she contacted her friends via social media. She also took on a yearly job working at the state fair and dated a man named Cody online for a brief period. In May 2012, Jenna returned to Echo over spring break and convinced Chase (who came to her for aid) to help her pull a prank on Leo in which he would be led to believe that Chase was cheating on him. This culminated in Leo breaking Chase's phone, and the two unofficially broke up as Chase began his first semester at Pueblo alongside her and Carl.
Jenna continued her studies at Pueblo, tending to keep to her friend group rather than interacting with Chase or Carl. In October 2012, she attended a college party by a wolf named Vincent. By the events of Echo, Jenna has begun planning to graduate in months. She is set to start a graduate program at the prestigious Weston University in the fall. During spring break, she and Chase depart from Pueblo and then go to pick up TJ to make their return to Echo for one last reunion of their childhood friend group.
Plot
Prologue[]
Jenna arrives in Echo alongside Chase and TJ and reunites with the rest of their friends. She accompanies the group to Southwest Adventures on Sunday, where she splits off with Leo and Flynn to enjoy the rides. Later on, she and Leo compete at various carnival games, all of which she triumphs by using her experience at the state fair. During this time, Chase may either confess that he is bisexual (and has been so from the start) or allow her to go on believing that he is gay, which affects their interactions on her route later on. Jenna also encourages Leo and Chase to talk about their relationship rather than letting it hang over the group for the rest of their trip.
When Flynn snaps at the group on Monday, Jenna goes after Leo to calm him down. If Chase chooses to follow them, he will find her unsuccessfully trying to reason with him before storming off and encouraging Chase to give it a shot.
Jenna's route[]
If Chase decides to stay with Jenna rather than talk to Leo, the 2 track down TJ and manage to cheer him up somewhat. They then promise to go hiking with him the next day. During the hike, Jenna discusses her family and future with Chase and her childhood experiences with her "guardian angel." Afterward, the three visit the diner and are joined by Leo, who informs them of his plans to hold a party for Carl's birthday.
On Wednesday, Jenna accompanies the group to the mall in search of presents for Carl, during which she may lightly flirt with Chase if he has revealed that he is bisexual. Jenna scolds Leo for his advances toward Chase. She embarrasses him once again by winning a prize for Carl's birthday from a claw machine he had been struggling with. The group heads to Carl's house for the party, with Jenna being boosted through the window by Chase to let the rest of the group in when the ram does not answer. Shortly after, the group realizes Carl is missing. Jenna discovers his phone with a photo of a mysterious figure on it.
Jenna takes charge during the search for Carl, immediately informing his parents and the police of the situation and working with the others to coordinate search efforts. Jenna stays at the mansion as a "home base" for the rest of the day, eventually searching for herself early the next morning. She is accompanied by Chase as the pair go to talk to Duke. Along the way, she tells Chase about her grandmother. She shares her thoughts on Leo's recent behavior and Echo itself, to which Chase can respond positively or negatively. Afterward, the pair return to the mansion, where they have sex if Chase has told her he is bisexual.
Later that day, Jenna goes with Flynn and Chase to talk to Jeremy and his friends, encountering Heather in the process. Depending on Chase's interactions with her the previous night, she may either confront Heather about their shared past or move past it. Regardless, after hearing Jeremy's story, the group heads back to the hotel for the night, where Chase shares a bed with her (potentially in a romantic manner). That night, she dreams about her grandmother as a noble knight who chooses to spare a baby dragon rather than kill it.
After getting breakfast, Jenna returns to the hotel to help Chase apply first aid to an injured Leo, and she and the wolf argue about her manipulative behavior before the appearance of a shadowy version of Chase. Immediately after, the three find themselves attacked and abducted by Brian. She is chained to a radiator in the bear's trailer and forced to watch as Duke interrogates Chase. Carl (who has been held in the trailer throughout the week) is taken away by Jeremy and Clint, and Micha, Chase, and Leo are tortured by Brian. The group is saved by the timely appearance of Jenna's "guardian angel," who seemingly kills Brian and frees Micha.
After escaping the trailer, the group comes across a mysterious van that prompts Leo to share his past with Micha. Jenna is disgusted by these revelations and makes her main goal of escaping town as soon as possible. Should Chase's responses toward her while walking together on Thursday morning be more negative, her behavior becomes increasingly short-tempered and vengeful. In contrast, more positive responses make her more patient and accepting (Sam even compares her to Cynthia). The group then reunites with Flynn and TJ and enters Heather's house, where they find Carl and a hysterical Heather.
Should Chase encourage Jenna's more jaded worldview, she will have gotten Flynn to shoot Heather and harshly condemn the rest of the group. After stealing Heather's dam operating guide, she splits off on her own and drives to Daughter's Dam, where she opens up the floodgates and floods Echo. Jenna seems to hear odd voices that inspire her erratic behavior on this path.
If Chase is more positive in talking with Jenna, however, she (if chosen over Micha) will talk Heather down and encourage the group to follow the cat to the dam to stop her from flooding the town herself. Upon arriving, Jenna manages to reason with Heather regarding the people who care about her. Jenna prevents her from opening the floodgates, narrowly saving Heather from her approaching "guardian angel."
Afterward, Jenna accompanies the group to a diner in Payton, where she apologizes, admits to her manipulation of others, and promises to strive toward being a better and more self-aware friend, starting by taking a gap year to reconcile with her biases before departing for Weston. Should Chase have engaged in a romantic relationship with her, she will apologize for using him to hurt Leo before confirming that their feelings are real. Jenna encourages him to ask her out genuinely later, which he agrees to with equal joy. She then asks a now more mature Chase to pick a song on the jukebox as the route ends.
Carl's route[]
Jenna plays a key role in Carl's route, albeit in physical form only. She first appears at Carl's birthday party on Wednesday, where she aggressively confronts him for avoiding the majority of the party and angrily points out his privilege compared to her upbringing. Chase notes this as being out of character for her, which proves to be an astute observation later on.
Jenna accompanies the group to Lake Emma on Saturday in an attempt to move past Sydney's death, only for things to go awry when Chase nearly drowns, and mass Hysteria breaks out across Echo. Jenna attempts to track down TJ, who is frantic and seemingly hallucinating, only to end up trapped in a hallucinatory version of the Hendricks Mansion alongside Carl, Chase, and Raven.
As the group attempts to escape the distorted mansion, they can piece together that the key to their escape lies in resolving a mysterious "game" between the spirits of James Hendricks I and John Begay, the ancestors of Carl and Jenna. On top of this, the spirits have possessed the bodies of their respective descendants, leading to Jenna's actions throughout the rest of the route being manipulated by John Begay. While under John's influence, Jenna has little concern for her friends. She gets very aggressive with them as John attempts to prove his innocence of his past crimes. She also does not seem to process any danger to herself, such as brushing off an experience in which she is nearly hung.
Despite Chase and Carl attempting to break Jenna off her possession, she cannot fight John off and only comes to her senses briefly throughout the night. This eventually culminates in John (in Jenna's body) attempting to kill Carl, only for Chase to fight her off and temporarily split ways with her and Raven. Afterward, depending on whether or not Carl fought off his possession earlier in the night, Jenna is either murdered by a James-possessed Carl or freed of her possession after Chase promises to bring the truth of John's story to light.
In Carl's good ending, Jenna stays close friends with those who survived the Hendricks Mansion alongside her and processed the night's trauma by enrolling in Weston as planned. There, she turns her studies toward the phenomenon of shared psychosis and denies any paranormal aspects of the incident. Though her school career does not stagnate due to her time in Echo, Jenna is haunted by her actions and the harm she brought to her friends throughout the night.
Leo's route[]
Jenna's role on Leo's route is somewhat minimal. On Tuesday, she goes shopping with Chase, Leo, and TJ. She gets in a race with Leo and embarrasses him in front of Chase by "proving" herself as the ideal companion in an apocalypse. The following day, she also attends Carl's birthday party, being boosted through the window by Leo to let the rest of the group into the mansion when Carl proves to be absent.
Afterward, Jenna remains absent most of the route, having fallen for Leo's texts explaining that Chase would prefer to be alone with him. She presumably goes hiking with TJ and works on her homework before the mass Hysteria takes hold of the town on Saturday. At some point on Sunday, Jenna manages to make her way to the area near Leo's house while experiencing unknown hallucinations that put her on edge. Kudzu and Chase later find her, and she returns to her senses, albeit shaken. Afterward, she escapes town with the rest of the group by hopping aboard a passing train en route to Payton.
TJ's route[]
Jenna spends most of TJ's route working on homework at the hotel. She attends Carl's birthday party on Wednesday. Leo boosts her through the window to open the door, though the gathering is short-lived when Carl cannot initially be found. She joins Chase, TJ, and Carl on Sydney's alleged final treasure hunt, hoping to help TJ gain closure. When Carl breaks his ankle, Jenna accompanies him to the hospital. Then, she goes to stay with a friend in Payton for the remainder of the route, seemingly disgusted with her friends' actions.
Flynn's route[]
Jenna spends much of Flynn's route attempting to defend TJ from Flynn's interrogation. On Tuesday, she rebuffs the lizard's attempts to talk with him. Jenna tells him to apologize for his behavior before speaking to them again. She attends Carl's birthday party on Wednesday. Jenna spends much of the following week working on homework or hanging out with TJ and Leo. On Thursday night, she and TJ hear Clint shouting outside their hotel room, and she calls the cops, only for her police report to be dismissed.
On Friday, Jenna and the rest of the group, except Flynn, meet and barbecue near Chase's former house. Should Chase choose to dance with TJ and Jenna during the get-together, Chase steps on Jenna's foot, and she spends the rest of the route walking with a limp. Later, at the motel, Jenna mentions to Chase that she saw the Socket Man, who she calls her "guardian angel," many times while she was stressed throughout her early childhood. She explains that those memories eventually encouraged her to pursue psychology.
When Flynn attempts to interrogate TJ about Sydney's death on Saturday, Jenna (having been told by Chase of Flynn's plan) arrives and angrily confronts him about his behavior. When Chase falsely accuses Flynn of threatening TJ with violence, she seems repulsed by the entire situation. After TJ reveals Chase's role in Sydney's death, Chase describes Jenna as more troubled than she's looked in years. She returns to Flynn's house with the rest of the group sans Chase as the Hysteria begins to break out across town.
At Flynn's house, the group tries to process the implications of TJ's confession, which Jenna seems open to believing. Jenna may be forced to reason with an increasingly irrational Leo, who is furious at Flynn and unwilling to accept Chase's guilt, depending on how Chase treated him earlier in the route. When Jenna catches Flynn and Carl sharing a tender hug in Flynn's room, she is wryly delighted by the prospect of a romance between them. Jenna later tells Flynn she is happy for them. After TJ gives another account of the monster he saw the day Sydney died, Jenna is shocked to realize that it matches the "guardian angel" she saw throughout her childhood and that most of the group also saw it.
Jenna accompanies the group as they return to Town Hall to learn more about the mass hysteria affecting Echo and manages to rescue Chase from a mob of townspeople incited by Duke. As they try to drive out of Echo, Jenna once again comes face to face with her "guardian angel" after it smashes through the car's back window, and she fires Duke's gun at it to no effect. After she and the rest of the group are teleported to Lake Emma by the creature and escape from their sinking vehicle, they regroup on the shore and head for Leo's house. She separates from Flynn and is not seen for the rest of the route, but she presumably escapes Echo after the night's events.
After Flynn's transformation into the Socket Man, he appears in the closet of a very young Jenna. This marks the beginning of her sightings of her "guardian angel." The route closes on Jenna, asking the creature if it is real, and it slowly shakes its head.
Relationships[]
Chase[]
Chase and Jenna have been best friends since childhood, being the first two members of their friend group to meet. The two remained close throughout their adolescence, with Chase often relying on Jenna as a confidante or seeking advice. For her part, Jenna seems to get along well with Chase (especially in comparison to Leo or Flynn). She tries to provide him with what she considers to be sound guidance whether he has asked or not. Though Jenna usually tries to point Chase in the right direction, she also greatly enjoys pranking him sometimes, mainly due to his fear of spiders.
On Jenna's route, if Chase confesses to her that he is (and always has been) bisexual, the two will enter a growing romantic relationship that spans the rest of the trip in which Jenna is outwardly flirtatious with him. Combined with the interactions they share on other routes, Route 65, and Jenna's offer of a "serious" date at the end of her route, Jenna may have had a crush on Chase since the beginning. That being said, while the two were at college, Jenna tended to keep her distance from Chase (possibly so they could focus on their respective career paths). Many of their more intimate interactions seemed to be at Leo's expense. As such, it is difficult to determine whether the full extent of Jenna's feelings toward Chase is genuine interest or simply using him to settle her grudge against Leo. However, her route (especially in the ending) seems to confirm/indicate that her feelings are indeed sincere.
Leo[]
Jenna and Leo became good friends shortly after they began attending school together, with she and Chase going out of their way to befriend him as the "new kid." The two have somewhat of a complex relationship, mainly due to their feelings toward Leo's relationship with Chase. As children, Leo would frequently check on Jenna when things were terrible with her family at home and even invite her to stay at his house when necessary. The two also developed somewhat of a friendly rivalry involving various contests. However, outside of this, Jenna tended to rely on Leo for support and offered him advice regularly.
This relationship took a turn when Chase and Leo started dating, resulting in the two frequently ignoring her. Afterward, Jenna became somewhat resentful toward Leo, both for becoming oblivious to her hardships and for commanding the bulk of Chase's attention for himself. As a result, Jenna's rivalry with Leo becomes much more competitive, and Jenna seemingly tries to make Leo look bad on various occasions. This culminated in a prank devised by Jenna in which she and Chase made Leo believe that he was being cheated on, leading to him and Chase unofficially breaking up. Though Jenna felt some level of guilt for the way things ended, she did not seem to think about her impact much beyond considering it a victory of sorts.
Jenna seems to enjoy coming out on top over Leo, especially when Chase is present. Because of this, the two are often in unspoken conflict, especially on Jenna's route. That being said, the two seem to get along well in areas where Chase is not concerned, and despite her condemnation of many of his actions, Jenna still considers Leo a close friend. In Jenna's good ending, she apologizes to Leo for her behavior. She promises to strive toward being a better friend. Leo likewise sincerely apologizes for deliberately trying to keep Chase to himself from her and the others for his own selfish sake.
TJ[]
As the group's youngest member, Jenna has a habit of "mothering" TJ to some extent. She often intervenes when other members of the group attempt to pick on him, especially Flynn, and tries to shield him from more serious or risqué topics. Having spent most of her life as TJ's unspoken guardian, Jenna is often surprised when he stands up to her or one of their other friends. She also simultaneously overestimates his naivete while undermining some of his capabilities. Despite this, the two remain great friends. Jenna spends much of her free time with TJ on most routes, particularly accompanying the lynx on his hikes or seeking him out when the Hysteria takes effect.
Flynn[]
Jenna and Flynn are often at odds with one another due to the lizard's temperamental nature. Jenna tolerates Flynn's outbursts much less than the rest of her friends, especially as they tend to be directed toward TJ. Jenna tends to assume the worst of Flynn and disagrees heavily with his desire to find the truth of Sydney's death rather than move on. Despite their differences, however, the two share a certain level of unspoken companionship regarding their somewhat similar upbringings. When Leo was unavailable (particularly after Leo began dating Chase), Flynn would often check on Jenna and help her with her home life as needed. Despite their strained relationship, Jenna still considers Flynn a close friend.
Carl[]
Jenna and Carl are friends, though they rarely interact compared to their respective relationships with the rest of the group. Jenna is very encouraging toward Carl regarding returning to college. However, she seems to struggle to understand his anxiety at times. In secret, Jenna seems to somewhat resent Carl's privileged upbringing and his current lifestyle in contrast to the struggles she was forced to face. That being said, Jenna gets along well with Carl overall and coordinates the group's search efforts for him during the events of her route.
While possessed by the spirit of John Begay on Carl's route, "Jenna" becomes increasingly aggressive and distrustful of Carl, seeing him as James even if Carl is no longer possessed. In Carl's bad ending, she is killed by a James-possessed Carl after attempting to attack him for "interfering" with evidence in their game.
Sydney[]
Sydney and Jenna rarely got along when he was alive due to Syd's bullying of TJ and seemingly aggressive behavior. After Sydney passed away, Jenna coped by telling herself that he was a bad person and even stating that she was glad for his death on one occasion. Despite these harsh words, Sydney's death seemed to affect Jenna heavily, and this event marked the beginning of Jenna's habit of coping by demonizing the parts of the past that she could not overcome.
Jeremy[]
Jeremy is Jenna's brother and the only surviving family member with whom Jenna still expresses interest in reuniting. Jenna states that Jeremy isn't as bad as the rest of her family, and she appears to feel that he was somewhat corrupted by the influence of Clint and their parents rather than being malicious himself. Jenna's trademark turquoise necklace was a gift from Jeremy, and the fact that Jenna still wears it may indicate that she holds some hope for their relationship. She seems somewhat happy to reencounter him during the events of her route. However, their relationship is far from perfect. Jenna condemns her brother after he aids Brian's capture of her and her friends. When Jeremy leaves them to their fate with the bear, Jenna seemingly cuts ties with him completely.
Begay Family[]
Jenna's parents were abusive toward her throughout her entire childhood, eventually prompting her to run away and cut them out of her life completely. Though she knows about her father's disappearance, she cares little about seeing him. Jenna was somewhat close with her older brother Adam as a child before he eventually "changed," primarily due to their parents' influence. Jenna seems to struggle with Adam's later suicide and has fond memories of who he once was.
Jenna was closer to her grandmother than much of her direct family, often visiting her at the Meseta reservation. Jenna enjoyed hearing stories from her grandmother, especially those involving her interactions over the radio as "the sweetheart of Echo Valley." After her grandmother passed away, Jenna and Adam were the only two to attend her funeral. Jenna notes that she was exceptionally touched by all of the truckers who attended to pay their respects and considers her relationship with her grandmother to be one of the few parts of childhood that she recalls fondly.
Heather[]
Heather and Jenna were briefly friends during high school, having bonded over their struggles at home. Jenna frequently covered for Heather in various ways, but eventually, doing so became too much to manage on top of her problems. After telling Heather this, however, the cat spread a rumor about Jenna sleeping with boys all over the school and even sent her boyfriend and his friends to her house. This led to Jenna becoming the target of heavy bullying throughout the rest of school. Jenna dwelled on this experience long after it happened, even preparing somewhat of a call-out for Heather's actions should they ever meet again.
When Jenna and Heather meet again during Jenna's route, her behavior toward the cat may vary depending on Chase's conversation with Jenna the previous night regarding the past and people in general. Should Chase's responses be more negative, Jenna will directly condemn Heather and convince Flynn to shoot her at the end of the route. Afterward, Jenna mocks Heather's corpse and steals her plans for the dam to flood the town herself. Should Chase's responses to Jenna be more positive, however, Jenna attempts to put aside the past and encourages Heather to seek help for her struggles with mental health. She may also convince Heather to stand down at her house and the dam later by reminding her that people care about her.
John Begay[]
John Begay is Jenna's ancestor. During the events of Carl's route, he possesses Jenna's body in an attempt to prove his innocence in the crimes he was accused of in life. John's presence causes Jenna to become more aggressive toward others, especially Carl, and somewhat detached from reality. Jenna seems unable to resist his influence or somewhat sympathize with his goal, as she rarely breaks free from her possession throughout the route. Regardless, in the aftermath of Carl's good ending, she is horrified by "her" actions and attempts to explain her possession as a case of psychosis.
Socket Man[]
The Socket Man began appearing to Jenna at a young age, especially when her parents were arguing or abusing her and her siblings. After a certain point, Jenna came to consider the creature her "guardian angel" of sorts. However, as an adult, she convinced herself that it was simply a hallucination manifested in response to her home life. During Jenna's route, she reencounters the creature and asks for its aid in saving her friends from Brian. During her good ending, Jenna thanks it for watching over her before it disappears as the threat Heather poses is neutralized.
Trivia[]
- Jenna's current sprite was created purely as a teenage design for Route 65 before being integrated into Echo as her main sprite.
- Due to when they take place chronologically, Jenna is referred to as Jasmynn in Route 65 and the short story Runaway. Jeremy and Heather also consistently call her Jasmynn.
- Jenna's route is the only storyline impacted by a choice made in the prologue; what Chase tells Jenna about his sexuality at Southwest Adventures will affect whether they pursue a romantic relationship later.
- Jenna is the only main character whose path in the game ends with the possibility of Chase entering a committed romantic relationship with them in the future.
- Jenna's species, and that of other desert foxes in the setting, is portrayed somewhat inconsistently. In Echo's narration, she and other Meseta characters are described as fennecs and kit foxes, and despite being different species, they are used interchangeably. Because Jenna's heritage is analogous to southwestern American Indian culture (particularly the Navajo), she is most likely intended to be a kit fox since kit foxes, unlike fennecs, are native to the Americas.
- Jenna's eyes used to be violet-colored but were changed to turquoise partway through Echo's development.
- Jenna's favorite novel is Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami.
- Jenna is the only explicitly straight member of the group.
